6.3 Creating an Entry in Restorative Charting

For an overview of the Charting dashboard, please see 6.1 Overview of Charting.

Procedures that have been created in Charting (and flagged as planned or completed) are automatically added to a list in the Financials module. To create an invoice for these procedures, please see 9.3.4 Creating a New Invoice from Procedures.

 

Locate the patient’s Restorative chart and select a date for the entry.

 

  • 1. From a module like Patient History  or Correspondence , choose a patient. Click to type the patient’s name in the Patient Search box (top right of the page) and then click the patient’s name from the list.
  • 2. Click the Charting  icon in the ICE Health menu bar.
  • 3. Click to open the Restorative tab.

 

Add any Conditions to teeth.

 

  • 1. Click a tooth in the graphical chart to open a dialog box for that tooth.
  • 2. Click to choose a Condition.

 

  • 3. If applicable, click to select one or more surfaces and then click OK.

 

  • 4. Click to choose any additional Conditions.
  • 5. Click OK and close the dialog box.
  • 6. Repeat the above steps for any other teeth. For adding Conditions to multiple teeth, please see the instructions below.
  • 7. Click Save below the Tools bar. (A red font indicates that new information has been added and has not yet been saved.) The condition will be added as a progress note and be shown in the graphical chart.

Add any Procedures (existing, planned or completed) to teeth.

 

On the graphical chart, Existing procedures are displayed in blue, Planned procedures are displayed in red and Completed procedures are displayed in black.

To create an invoice for procedures marked as planned or completed, please see 9.3.4 Creating a New Invoice from Procedures.

 

  • 1. Click a tooth in the graphical chart to open a dialog box for that tooth.
  • 2. Click to open the Procedures / Existing tab and then click to choose a procedure.

 

  • 3. In the Surface dialog box, click to select one or more surfaces.

 

  • 4. If applicable, click to choose the procedure material.
  • 5. Click to expand the drop-down list and then click to choose whether the procedure is Existing, Planned or Completed.
  • 6. If Planned or Completed has been selected, click to choose a code.
  • 7. Click OK to close the Surface dialog box.
  • 8. Click to add any other procedures to the tooth.
  • 9. Click to Save and close the Tooth dialog box.
  • 10. Repeat the above steps for any other teeth. For adding Procedures to multiple teeth, please see the instructions below.
  • 11. Click Save below the Tools bar. The procedure will be added as a progress note and be shown in the graphical chart.

 

Add information to the Progress Notes.

 

Please note that columns in the progress notes section are customizable, as is the content for drop-down lists. Contact your ICE account representative for more information.

To create an appointment for planned procedures from the Progress Notes, please see 6.6 Creating an Unscheduled Appointment from Charting.

 

  • 1. Under the appropriate column, either click to type information in a text box or click to choose from a drop-down list. Please note that Progress Notes may only be edited on the current day.
  • 2. To add information on subsequent days, click the Add Addendum  icon and then click to type notes in the addendum text box.
  • 3. Click to Save the entry.

 

Adding Conditions or Procedures to multiple teeth.

 

Three methods are available for adding the same procedure to multiple teeth.

 

Using the Odontogram. (Both Conditions and Procedures may be added to selected teeth.)

 

  • 1. Press Ctrl and click to highlight the teeth that you wish to select in the graphical chart.

 

  • 2. A dialog box will open for the selected teeth and the remaining steps for adding Conditions (Step ) or Procedures (Step ) are the same as for a single tooth.

 

Using the Multi-Tooth option in the Chart Setup tab. (Please note that this option is only available for adding Procedures to teeth and not Conditions.)

 

  • 1. Click Multi Tooth in the Chart Setup tab in the Tools bar.

 

  • 2. In the Group Name dialog box, click Add New Group.

 

  • 3. Click to type a Group Name and then click Save.
  • 4. A Group dialog box will open. Click to select the teeth that you wish to include in the group.  The remaining steps are the same as for a single tooth. Please see Step .

 

Using Other Procedures. (Both Conditions and Procedures may be added to selected teeth.)

 

  • 1. Click the Other Procedures tab at the top right of the progress notes to open a dialog box.

  • 2. From the New tab, click the green add icon  in the top right-hand corner.
  • 3. Click to start typing a procedure or condition and then click to choose from the drop-down list.

  • 4. Click to choose a surface (if applicable).
  • 5. Click to select the teeth that you wish to include.
  • 6. Click to choose whether the procedure is Planned or Completed.
  • 7. Click OK.
  • 8. To edit the information for a procedure line, click the edit icon at the right.

  • 9. Click Save to add the procedures to the progress notes.
