4.2 Creating a patient

New patients may be created from any module that has a Patient Search box in the top right corner, including the Scheduling, Dashboard, and Patient Admin modules.



Open the Create Patient dialog box.


  • 1. Click the patient icon in the Patient Search text box in the top right corner of the module.
  • 2. A drop-down list will appear with the 5 most recently accessed patients. Click Create New Patient at the bottom of the drop-down list to open a Create Patient dialog box.



Input the information for the required fields (indicated by a red asterisk).

  • 1. Click to type the First Name, Last Name, and Date of Birth. The system will automatically search the patient database to check that this patient has not been entered previously.


  • 2. Click the Patient Code text box to create a code automatically. Alternatively, you may type to enter a code.
  • 3. At this point, you may click Create Patient and complete registration at a later time or you may continue to enter information in the dialog box.

Enter any additional information and then click Create Patient in the bottom right-hand corner.


Complete Registration.

  • 1. Open the patient’s file. (Type the patient’s name in the Patient Search box in the top right corner. Click their name to open the file.  Also see 10.6 Performing Advanced Patient Searches.)
  • 2. To open the Patient Registration dialog box, click More Details in the Patient tab.


  • 3. Add information such as Insurance details or Family members to the applicable tabs.


  • 4. Click to Save & Close.
